When I think about a finial I always think of curtain rods. So when my husband came in one day and told me he wanted to put a couple of finials on the fence posts on either side of our driveway, I thought he was nuts! Why would anyone place a curtain rod finial on a fence post? Then he showed me the finials he was looking at and I had to laugh as he went through the pictures of finials that sit atop the post caps on the fenceposts. But as he was zipping by I had to stop him because I saw the perfect acorn finial for the entry and my job was done.
That is until I saw a wonderful 6″ pineapple finial that would look terrific on the gate posts leading into the backyard. I just loved the way they looked and how stylish and welcoming they were. So we ended up purchasing both types. They were made of cedar and came with detailed instructions of care that was easy to do before installing them all. It took very little time to place just enough of an accent on those entry areas and every time I see them it makes me smile a little.
