Before this year I have always used either wood or vinyl trellises and decided that I would go ahead and try a metal trellis and see how they do in my yard. I must say that I will never use anything else! The durability and stability of the iron has been great since we have had an unusual year of storms and rain, which bring the winds with them. While I have had to tie down or hunt down the other trellises, the metal ones have stayed where they are supposed to be! At the end of the season all the non-metal trellises will be going away.
There is one item that I bought in the spring that was not metal that has been awesome and stayed where it was installed; our vinyl arbor. I was actually surprised at how well the arbor did this year. I also love the fact that I have absolutely no maintenance to perform to keep it looking as good today as it did the day we received it. That is saying a lot since our old arbor needed to be painted every other year or so. I guess you just have to try things to find what works best for you.
